Blaze IV - an inhospitable world situated in the Keglar rim where the vast deserts are covered with a fine powdery sand that has more in common with dust. It clogs machines and clings to weaponary.

Hay's Retreat is a remote mining settlement situated in a wide Canyon on the edge of a vast depression known locally as The Devil's Sandpit, an expanse of deep sand covering thousands of square miles and inhabited only by the hardened indigenous Desert Raiders whose lawless tribal like existence is a constant thorn in the side of the authorities.

The settlement is separated from The Devil's Sandpit by a striking series of rock formations called Agabo Te Kana or The Jaws of the Serpent.

Increased attacks by the Desert Raiders has seen the arrival of Khalid's Mercenary unit to help security in this area of rich mining deposits. Garrisoned a few miles out from the settlement a number of units are always on patrol in or around the mining areas and staffing the local supply depot which also serves as the medical logistics depot for the southwest region. And it is the crates of medical supplies awaiting distribution that the Desert Raiders have their eyes on.

Appearing through The Jaws of the Serpent with sun behind them a fast attack force of armoured jeeps and infantry support took the defenders by surprise, weaving in and out of the rocks and dunes and drawing the defending units out to intercept. Initially, however, the defender's response was effective and the attackers were held in check losing several units to the Khalids medium and light tanks patrolling the dunes.


However the arrival of heavy support units from the barracks also brought an unexpected blow as they had been closely tailed by a force of Texan Flyers - another mercenary unit but this time employed by the raiders to provide close air support and to airlift their intended bounty away.

A fierce battle ensued around the depot and despite some severe losses the Raiders seized their objective.
